The 2 and 2 Possibles ministry is primarily organized for food service, including off-site and on-site preparation, when conditions permit. Preparation and service takes several hours of commitment each month. We cook, serve, offer fellowship, and prayer; we also collect and donate items in cooperation with other individuals and organizations, as opportunities and needs present.
Our over-arching mission comes from the concept of “breaking bread with God’s children." We base our group on Christian principles and scriptures of Matthew 25:35-36, and also allude to references of Jesus sending out His disciples two by two.
We have been told on many occasions by the guests and staff at Re: Center Ministries that our food tastes like love, which is the highest ever compliment, because that means that we are accomplishing our mission. Many of the guests have shared that our meals give a sense of comfort, peace, and memories of happier times.
Meals include main course meats, vegetables, beverages, desserts, and all condiments, and thanks to generosity of others, typically keep our grocery budget within $100. We have served as few as 12 guests and staff (local seminary students), and have served as many as well over 30.
Although we have served a various of meals, including homemade burgers or sandwiches and chips and dips, some of our most popular meals have been (donated) T-bone steaks, baked potatoes, and all the fixin's, served to mark our one-year anniversary of service, as well as oven pot roast, baked spaghetti, barbecue chicken, homemade chili, and roast beef and veggies, with hearty Tomato Florentine Soup, with braised lamb, served during our first Christmas lunch meal. We have also prepared main dishes, sides, and desserts upon request, including chit'lins, steamed cabbage, string beans, rice pudding, fresh fruits, sweet tea, homemade strawberry ice cream, pound cake, and cheesecake.
